1.1 Access to building from outside
It is possible to arrange a car-park within 25 m of the entrance. Dropping off by mobility service vehicles is possible. There is no dropped kerb of the pavement at the car-park.
1.2 Access inside the building
The entry phone is located 130-135 cm above the ground. There is no shade on the entry phone light which could therefore be dazzling. At Ällingavägen 5B there are unmarked steps. There are no door automatics.
1.3 Movement within the building
The building has a good standard from an accessibility viewpoint. Door widths allow passage with wheelchairs, and there are free spaces at the opening side of the doors.
1.4 Laundry, storage, refuse-handling
There are lifts to all floors, which means that laundry and storage rooms are accessible. The environmental area outside the building is also accessible.
1.5 Kitchen
Individual adaptation of space in rooms with cooking areas is possible. The corridor rooms that were checked had access to the common kitchen with a great deal of space.
1.6 Accommodation
Toilet areas are adequate for wheelchair users. In the room is a fixed glass wall, which could be removed if a wheelchair using student should move into the apartment.
2.1 Footpath
Footpaths in the immediate vicinity of the building are hard surfaced and have moderate slops. Other footpaths in the area, however, consist of reinforced grass or gravel, which can create problems for people with restricted mobility.
2.2 Ramp, slopes
There are no noticeable slopes at the building that was checked.
2.3 Lifts, platform lifts
There are accessible lifts in the building. There are no door automatics.
2.4 Interior doors
There is adequate space in front of doors.
2.5 Measures for safe access
The upper and lower steps do not have contrasting marking.
2.6 Design to facilitate orientation
Contrast between interior doors and surrounding walls is good.
2.7 Summary
The building meets most of the accessibility criteria and is generally assessed as the best alternative for the needs of disabled students.
