Brief information: Magasinet has 81 residences, mainly corridor rooms. The area is a reconstructed old granary, which, briefly, means that each room is individually adapted to the conditions of the building. This in turn means that the accommodation does not fully comply with the requirements in the way that more modern buildings do. The building is approximately 500 m from Lund city centre.
Year of build: Magasinet was built as a granary in 1916, but was renovated in 1990 and converted to a hall of residence.

1.1 Access to building from outside
The car-park is slightly more than 25 m from the entrance, but the footpath from the car-park is asphalted. However, the last section of the footpath before the entrance has a somewhat higher gradient than recommended. Access by mobility service is possible.
1.2 Access inside the building
The entry phone is somewhat high. There are no door automatics.
1.3 Movement within the building
A mobility-disabled person can move about inside the building. There are door closers. The corridors of the building are rather dark, which could cause problems for the visually impaired.
1.4 Laundry, storage, refuse-handling
There are laundry rooms on floors 3 and 5 which are accessible to wheelchair users. However, the entrance has a sill which is higher than recommended. Additionally, the sill is sharp and the door opening narrow. The loft storage area is accessible. The refuse storage area has sills that are higher than recommended.
1.5 Kitchen
There are large, accessible kitchens in the apartments that were checked. Individual adaptation kitchen is possible.
1.6 Accommodation
Toilet areas in the apartments examined are in general too narrow for wheelchair users. The floors of these areas are higher than in other apartments which results in somewhat high sills. There are glass partitions in all shower spaces, which restricts access. The rectangular form of toilet areas means they cannot be adapted to provide accessibility.
2.1 Footpath
Foot surfaces are in good condition.
2.2 Ramp, slopes
There are no significant slopes at Magasinet.
2.3 Lifts, platform lifts
Buttons in lifts are accessible. The rail is not on the same side as the buttons. There are no door automatics.
2.4 Interior doors
There is sufficient space in front of doors.
2.5 Measures for safe access
The upper and lower steps do not have contrasting marking.
2.6 Design to facilitate orientation
Contrast between interior doors and the surrounding walls in combination with poor lighting can provide problems for the visually impaired.
2.7 Summary
All floors can be reached by persons in wheelchairs. However, toilet areas are not accessible to wheelchair users.
